The gateway to Mt. Hakuba & the Hakuba Daisekkei
This mountain hut is located at the trailhead of the Hakuba Daisekkei, one of Japan’s Three Snow Valleys. In spring, the area is covered in fresh greenery, while in autumn it is surrounded by the red leaves of rowan trees and the vibrant colors of beech forests.
The Hakubajiri campsite is the closest campsite to the snow valley.
During the summer season, a hiking consultation desk is also set up, where guides from the Hakuba Mountain Guide Association provide advice. It serves as the main gateway to the Daisekkei route, the most popular route to Mt. Hakuba.

Rooms & Fees
Japanese Style Dormitory Room
A Japanese-style dormitory room where you can relax and rest well in preparation for the next day’s climb.

Fees
- Student Discount: Receive a discount of JPY 3,000 by presenting a valid student ID.
(Applicable to postgraduate, undergraduate, vocational school, high school and junior high school students. Not available during: July 19 to August 17, September 13~15, September 20~23, October 11~13, and school hiking trips.) - An additional fee of JPY 3,000 will be charged for guests who stay without a prior reservation.
- Basic Accommodation Fee
1 stay with 2 meals: JPY 13,000 (adult) / JPY 8,500 (elementary school student)
1 stay with dinner: JPY 11,500 (adult) / JPY 7,000 (elementary school student)
1 stay with breakfast: JPY 10,500 (adult) / JPY 6,000 (elementary school student)
1 stay without meals: JPY 9,000 (adult) / JPY 4,500 (elementary school student)
Bento box: JPY 1,500
Cancellation Policy
- A cancellation fee will be charged according to the following conditions:
- No-show: 100% of the accommodation fee
- On the day of stay: 30% of the accommodation fee
- After 16:00 on the day before: 30% of the accommodation fee
- Before 16:00 on the day before: No charge
- The cancellation fee applies to both the basic accommodation fee and the private room fee. Student discounts are not applicable.
- Even in cases of cancellation due to bad weather or physical condition, cancellation fees will be charged. However, please prioritize your safety and avoid unsafe hiking.
- If you are required to change your plans and stay at another mountain hut within our group, no cancellation fee will be charged; however, an additional fee of JPY 2,000 will apply.
- No cancellation fee will be charged in the following cases:
- If a special warning or weather alert is issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency for the area on the day of your stay.
- If you are physically unable to reach the mountain hut on the day of your stay due to road closures or similar circumstances.

Campsite
Camping offers a luxurious experience where you can enjoy the silence of nature and a sky full of stars all to yourself. Wake up to the sound of birds in the morning and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Travel at your own pace and fully enjoy the sense of achievement and escape from the ordinary.
Check-in counter is at Sarukuraso Hut.
Fees

Rental Items
Crampons
JPY1,500
We offer lightweight 4-point crampons for rent at Sarukuraso Hut, Hakuba Sanso Lodge and Tsugaike Hutte. You can rent them directly at any of the huts without reservation. When you return the crampons to any of the huts, we will refund the deposit of JPY 500 to you.

We offer original items such as badges, hand towels, and T-shirts, as well as cup coffee and instant noodles.
Hikers passing through are also welcome to stop by.

During the peak climbing season, a hiking consultation desk is open, where you can seek advice from guides of the Hakuba Mountain Guide Association.
Toilet
Located at the Hakubajiri Campsite. Available to all campers and hikers.
